Calling all young creatives! Are you a budding Picasso or future Rembrandt? Do you like to draw or paint? Do you know young artists? Encourage them to take part in the Akada Children's Book Festival Illustration Competition for children under the age of 16. All they need to do is draw, colour, paint or sketch an image that best describes the theme of the year's festival.
Congratulations to all of the winners. We also want to give a special mention to the work submitted by Adeniji Fiyinfoluwa John; Okonkwo Nora; Okeke Success and Joshua Oloniluyi. In fact all 64 children who submitted entries for the competition did well and should be applauded.
Their schools and art teachers should also be praised. Well done to them for inspiring the children. The work submitted by the top finalists (Kareem, Adele, Gift and Daniella) stood out because of their ability to interpret the theme of the festival, their pure creativity, and because of their efforts and storytelling abilities. You can see the time and thought process behind them.
Daniella's art stood out for all of us because it was an optical feast that was evocative of many emotions. The time she spent working on the art piece is vivid for all to see and her courageous use of colour to tell a story that best illustrates the theme "Together Again" is commendable.
