The Akada Children's Book Festival (ACBF) is a showcase of children's books written for a diverse audience of children. To the best of our knowledge, ACBF is the first Nigerian book festival entirely dedicated to children's literature. The gathering was held for the first time in 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second edition of the event was held online and despite all the challenges that the world encountered in 2020, the online festival was another success, attracting over 1,600 participants from Ghana, Madagascar, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, Rwanda, Estonia and various states across Nigeria.
The 2021 event is also being held online and expanded over 3 days. On the first day of the festival, Thursday July 1st, there will be professional workshops for children's book writers, illustrators and publishers. On the second day, Friday July 2nd, there will be insightful workshops, sessions for parents and teachers while on the 3rd day, Saturday 3rd July, there will be author book readings; Book Chat; Giggle Box; Happy Tunes; StoryTime; pop quizzes and prizes; fun workshops for children. Please check the program schedule for full details.
Enjoy the festival!
